After a bit more searching found that; The turbo in the 1.6HDi is a version of the Mitsubishi TD025S2-06T4 - this model also used on Ford, Volvo, Mini and various others using PSA 1.6HDi variants. Some TD025S2's are regulated via boost pressure feedback (like the DW10), others via vacuum.
As well as eight significant recalls there have been some ongoing problems with reliability. To be fair, the update in 2015 ironed out many of the earlier issues and later models seem to have fewer troubles. The introduction of the 1.5 Blue HDi engine that is featured across Peugeot van models, was a welcome addition thanks to increased testing.
Solution: It’s very likely that some material has detached from the timing belt and is negatively affecting the brake vacuum pump. Later models have software detection that will identify this issue before it becomes a problem. You’ll have to replace both the vacuum pump and the timing belt, both of which we have in stock at all times. After doing quite a bit of work to try and resolve the issue, my 56 plate Berlingo Multispace with the 1.6 HDi engine is still running lumpy, burning oil and generally stinking up the place. The engine starts slightly hard in the cold (not a problem at the moment), initially runs very lumpy and produces quite a bit of blue smoke.

A 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine option was introduced in 2016. Overall. Back at the turn of the century, the original Citroen Berlingo Multipace established a template for the modern van-based compact MPV. This much improved second generation version sold between 2015 and 2018 continued that heritage.
