So, I did a search before posting this and decided to post anyway, because my problem seems to be a little different. I have a 2018 Golf R. The rear wiper started to stutter so I had VW replace it during my first 10k service. When I say "stutter" I mean that as the wiper arm sweeps, it stops for a split second. Hello almighty Golf enthusiasts! I have a 2011 MK6 R, and the windshield wipers are not working. Tried 2 new motors already and no success. The hood lock is working without any faults. The car recognises that it is properly closed. The windshield wiper motor has good +12V and good ground. Tested with a light bulb. Then press the lock or unlock button on the 2nd key fob again once. 6) Switch off the ignition, and remove the 1st key fob. Now switch the keys and repeat the process. (I found that only the second key would work remotely. Swaping the keys in the procedure above fixed the 1st key. No headlights on dipped beam. Everything else is working as it should (high beam, sidelights, fogs, indicators) - but no dipped beam lights. Was all working fine yesterday, but no lights (dip) when I switched on last night. Checked fuses and all visible connections, changed bulbs - but still nothing.

The brakes work completely fine, the red light that used to be on the dashboard for a few months has disappeared yet the yellow break pad sensor light on the dashboard has come on now. Under your steering wheel there are 2 screws, take them out and pull the panel off. It could be the relay. With MK4 golfs there basically all run on the same one. Have a look and feel if it's hot. My wipers and heaters and indicators stopped working, changed the relay and all was good. The indicator and brake signal both share the high signal of the dual filament bulbs in a US tail light. Basically each signal overides the other, so when braking, the indicator signal inverts to cut the brake signal out. Getting this to work with the standard Golf flasher unit requires 3 relays and a resistor bypass per tail.
